Change is good

I’m going to be playing around with the design of my site, trying out a few different themes for this blog.

Be sure to let me know if you like one of them by commenting.

I am here.

In Abilene, that is.

Got all moved in on Friday (very quickly too, thanks to David’s help).

As long and good as the summer was, it almost feels like I never left. Accordingly, not much has changed in Abilene since I left.

I’m going to be changing up the gallery a wee bit – pictures from spring semester have been moved to a new link, and the “main gallery” is empty as of now, because I have no pictures from this semester yet… ahem.

Classes start tomorrow… joy.

Coming Soon, to an Abilene near you…

I’ll spare you the usual “countdown to Abilene”… I’ll just tell you I’ll be there Friday. And dang – Friday is coming fast. So much to do between now and then, and increasingly less time to do it all.

I keep forgetting to post. Something will happen during the day, and I’ll think to myself, “That’s worth blogging about.” And then I forget such things.

Hung out with my fellow FBCC ’04 brethren the other night (or most of them); first time all summer we’ve had a group that large (9 if I remember correctly). And it was good to be around them again; I’ve seen most of them at church over the summer, but not in a “hanging out” way, and I’ve missed that with them. Thanks y’all.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Stupid people should not drive. This would include people who are blissfully unaware of their surroundings. When I have a green light (which, coincidentally means you don’t have a green arrow – or right of way), and I am moving towards you at 40+ miles an hour, whilst you are sitting at a dead stop, and I am mere moments from entering the intersection – you DO NOT pull out your left turn in front of me and the other oncoming traffic! Thank God for ABS, once again.

See you HSU people friday.

What a weekend. I was the co-leader along with Ben P. for the 9th grade guys at the Spann’s house… and I think we had an awesome weekend. Wes Hamilton spoke about the separation of the sacred from the secular, and why it’s wrong – awesome – it was akin to some of the “being relevant” stuff we talked about in Vapor Bible Study last semester. Our sessions (aside from the occasional severe sidetracking) went well. Saturday afternoon we went out to canvas north Carrollton and hang door-hangers – and yeah, it was hot out there – but I think our guys had a great time with it. Saturday night was the derby car race… they had the fastest running time, thanks to C.J.’s amazing talent of burping, Zak L. winning 3 hands of blackjack in a row, and fast times on the other stations – but the 12th grade girls won points for their car (and spirit?), so they won overall, and my guys ended up in 2nd. Still, they had a great run.

The shirts this year… well, they’re interesting. I like it though; the more I wear it the more I like it… but yeah – weird.

Last week was my last week at work… bittersweet.

And now, about 2 weeks and it’ll be that time again… fall semester.

I saw “The Island” (IMDB | Google Reviews | Official Site) today. I give it my thumbs up (for what that’s worth). If you liked “Minority Report” (IMDB) and “The Matrix”(IMDB), you’ll like “The Island.”

I suppose that’s enough rambling for now.
