About the Cowboy Band

What is it that makes the Hardin-Simmons University Cowboy Band unique in it’s appeal to people all over the world?

It isn’t the size – the band numbers around thirty-five to forty-five members.
It isn’t fancy uniforms – traditional western attire is what is worn.
And it isn’t strict regimentation – that’s for sure.

New iPods today. Apple is dropping the iPod mini line, and is replacing it with the iPod nano. It comes in sizes of 2 and 4gb, is thinner than a no. 2 pencil, and weighs about the weight of 8 quarters (in other words, it’s really small for what it is). It has a color screen, the Apple click-wheel, and will come in white and black.

Also new is the “iTunes phone” (not pictured). Personally, I was hoping for more here. I was hoping that it wasn’t simply Apple software on a Motorola phone… but that’s what it is. Oh well. Sorry I’m not in the mood do this post it’s nerdy justice.

A lot of you have noticed by now, but there are now 9 different banners for the image up there – to those of you that will, have fun refreshing the site over and over to see them all (and yes Meredith, the “pretty blue header” is back :) ). Personal favorite is the one with green upholstery and wood trim.

Since I don’t have much else on my mind, time for some “nerd corner.” New iPods expected this week (Wednesday) – supposedly, we’ll get a 2gb Shuffle, the iPod mini’s will get color screens, and will use flash-memory instead of hard drives and come in sizes of 4, 6, and 8gb, and the iTunes phone is expected to be unveiled.

For those of you not in the loop, Apple and Motorola have been developing a phone that has an iTunes-like software on it that will allow you to use it like an iPod, but a new twist will be being able to download music tracks from the iTunes Music Store “over-the-air;” it’s expected sizes are 256 and 512mb.

The only problem is that the expected 8gb mini is supposed to be at the same price level as the 20gb regular… which doesn’t make much economic sense for Apple (same price, more than double the capacity)… we’ll see what unfolds.

Change is good (Part II)

Ok, time for a change. I didn’t like the other one much either, though I may go back to it after some heavy editing. In the meantime, we’ll try this out.

Went over to Ft. Awesome last night and watched 5 episodes of season 2… Michael, Micah, and Aly are happy people now, heh.

Mmm, time for class. At least it’s friday.
