This post is kind of a cop-out, in that it is merely a repost from a blog that I frequent… however, it spoke to me, and I felt I should share. The text is from John 6:26 & 27.

Circumstances. Aren’t circumstances just great? Whether they are good or bad, they always seem to be there and they always seem to have a profound influence on your day, your attitude and pretty much just generally how you feel about things. So let me ask you this. Is you perception of God based on your circumstances?

Jesus says some pretty profound words in verse 26, “The truth is, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you saw the miraculous sign.” In other words, he says that the people were more interested in the blessings than they were the blesser. Their circumstance were what was important.

What if you found yourself in a really bad situation…maybe you had some control over it, maybe you didnt. Maybe you brought it upon yourself, maybe you didnt. Either way, you’re in it. Do those times make you see God any differently? Do you think he’d put you in a painful situation….like on purpose?

I fear that many of us put way more stock in God’s promises, or blessings, or what he does than we do in God himself. Here’s the thing. God is unchanging. If you believe that, then what do your circumstances matter? If you’re in a bad spot, God is who he is. If you’re in a great situation, God is who he is.

So. Think about this. Ask yourself this question.

Are you more in love with God? Or, are you more in love with what God does for you?

Home again, home again

You guessed it. I’ll be at home in the Dallas area this weekend. Let me know if you want to “hang out.”

In other news… I continue to disagree with a certain professor who continues to believe that he should have control over an off-campus non-school sponsored event. Heck, we use our own cars and gas to get out there… oh well. At least things in that regard are over for now, maybe we can all calm down a bit.

The cold is coming to Abilene again this week. Should have lows in the mid-forties on Wednesday and Thursday night. Just so you know.

I’ve added the hours for the sub and the campus bookstore to my “Hours and Numbers” page. I put that stuff there because it’s not easily found (or in some cases, not found at all) on the HSU website.

Also – it appears the much anticipated video iPod – or whatever Apple is going to call it – may be on the way, with Apple inviting the media to a “special event” at the California Theater in San Jose next Wednesday. I won’t bore you with the nerdy aspects of what this might mean to you; just ask me if you really want to know – you know such things make me giddy.
