Links

So, I have some links I’ve had open in my web browser for a while, and I’ve been wanting to share them with someone, so I’ll just share them with you.

First up is this story of a guy that, because of a brain operation he had back in the early 1950′s, can’t remember any long term memories. Consequently, he doesn’t remember anything from day to day, and wakes up every morning thinking it’s the day after his surgery and that Harry Truman is still president. An interesting read.

Next is this company that produces laser pointers, except they’re 5 to 10+ times more powerful than your average laser pointer… powerful enough to cut things – which can be lots of fun – except they cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. But – this site has a couple videos of them cutting things and pictures of the range you get with these things.

Here have some conceptual renderings of some PS3 controllers that some Joystiq.com readers came up with. A couple are lame, but a couple are pretty innovative, so have a look.

Carrie, you were asking how to hack the WEP wireless security schema, so here you go – even how to do it with a Mac (though it looks like you need two machines)… keep in mind though, it is illegal. These methods were outlined probably to exploit the inherant problems with WEP so that it can be made more secure.

Olivo Barbieri does aerial photography and uses a tilt-shift lens (whatever that is), but the images make the world look really fake.

Ok, that’s all for now.

I’m off to Kerrville this weekend; I’m running sound for my church’s youth praise band because they’re doing a d-now in Kerrville… my first chance to run live front-of-house sound in a long time.

Be well.

Long time no post

So, it’s been awhile.  Oops.

I’m 20 now.  Scary, right?  My parents can’t label me as a teen anymore… heh.

So I have the most amazing friends ever.  I’m pretty sure I knew that before my birthday, but wow.  Thanks to all of you, I really can’t tell you just how much that meant to me.  It was the best birthday I can remember; no joke.  Hopefully I can repay you all, someday, somehow.

The passenger side window on my car stopped working again right before I came to school for the semester.  A couple weeks ago, I ripped the door panels and window motors apart on both passenger side doors and got them working and lubed and cleaned the seals.  Plus, everything was just peachy for like 2 weeks or so.  And now, lo and behold, it’s stopped working again.  Gah.  Dodge, I want a replacement power window motor.

I’m in the Abilene Collegiate Orchestra now, and it’s not going to be as bad as I thought it would be.  Dr. Isaacson (or “Magnum”) seems like a very nice, level-headed guy, and I think I’ll enjoy being directed by him.  I forget what it is I’m playing, but I only play in one out of the four or five pieces they have on their table at the moment… it’s a good thing.

Concert / Cowboy Band Tour is going to be in the Metroplex this year!  Apparently, the Cowboy Band was the first band to parade through Six Flags when it was opened, so we’ve been asked to come play at Six Flags over Texas on Saturday, March 4, as part of some 45th anniversary celebration.  This likely means though that the rest of tour this year will be at different high schools and what-not in the Metroplex, which should be fun.  We might even come play at/for Hebron… which might be interesting, because at the moment, “La Inglesina” and “Paris Sketches” are both on our “might play” list, and if I’m not mistaken, the seniors at HHS this year have played both those pieces – very well too, if I might add.

Chapel starts tomorrow (technically, today), and it’s past my bedtime.  So I’m out.

Crazy Mel

Mel Gibson edited himself into the trailer for his new film, Apocalypto. Download it, scrub forward to about 1:45 into the trailer, and then move frame by frame with the arrow keys.

If you can’t see a time code, just watch the whole trailer. Watch for a semi-nude pregnant woman, then you’ll see a guy, and then you’ll see him running, then you will see people coming out of a corn field with torches, then you’ll see a guy caught in a net, then you’ll see two closeups on a guy’s face and then the next scene should be… Crazy Mel.

“Are you really under age?”

So today I was told I look like I’m 23 or 24 years old. Maybe I should forget to shave more often…??

Death Cab For Cutie was on SNL tonight. Ben Gibbard sure does move around a lot when he performs.??

I miss you, my fellow Abilenians. Soon, we will be reunited. What a glorious day that will be.??

On that note, is anybody going to be eating lunch on their MWF’s at 11?

I’m actually a little worried about my class load this semester; I may end up dropping one course.??

Randomness seems to be a common theme lately. But then, life is random… or is it?
