Hardin-Simmons is about to go-live with a new website powered by Datatel's ActiveCampus and ActiveAdmissions content management systems.
While I can't take credit for the design, I can say I had a major role in creating banner-ads, header images, and other graphic content based off the comps from Datatel. I also had a major role in creating the pages; entire sections of this new site were created by yours truly. In most cases I was given only the copy for the page(s), and it was up to me to decide what kind of page template to use and what page elements to use. Also, since this site has been in the planning and development stages for over a year, I got to make several decisions related to site structure and user experience.
This was the Advance Registration site for HSU's 08-09 school year. The layout was modeled from the previous year's design, but handcoded from scratch using CSS instead of tables. The design was influenced by the print pieces our designers did for a mailer.
The HTML and CSS for this were handcoded. The Javascript was a mix of handcoded form tools, the validation tools (for which I used fValidator) and the datepicker (for which I used Calendar), both of which utilize the MooTools Javascript framework.
For my senior project, I hand coded a web application to accept, store, and manage applications for off-campus housing at Hardin-Simmons University. Students are able to create an account in the system, and once their friends have also created accounts, they can apply for student housing. Administrative users have a separate interface and login system, whereby they can list applications in several different ways (type of housing, relationship of roommates, etc), and of course view/print applications.
The application is coded in PHP and uses MySQL for the database. It makes use of the Spry javascript framework from Adobe Labs, and the fabulous famfamfam “Silk” icons by Mark James.

The ladies of HSU's SAI chapter (Gamma Phi) contacted me about building them a new website. They wanted a new, clean design, and they wanted to be able to edit the content easily. Immediately, I thought of using WordPress as a CMS for the site.
Not having time to code a new theme from scratch, I modified an existing one; the excellent Copyblogger theme by Chris Pearson. The site runs a basic install of Wordpress 2.5.x, utilizes the Flexipages, Guestbook Generator, and Paged Comments plugins, and complies with all of SAI's rules for chapter websites.
A creative placeholder for Homecoming 2008, handcoded in HTML and CSS. I used the official logo design for this year's homecoming as the basis for the design.
A minisite for HSU's dance team, the Spurs.
While I can't claim this site's design as my own, I can claim the color change I did for this year's iteration. The event organizers of the Abilene Summer Music Festival (hosted by Hardin-Simmons) wanted to keep the site design from last year, but tweak the colors for this year's theme. While this was a new and interesting task for me, I think the end result is excellent. In the thumbnails to the left, last year's color scheme is on the bottom, and this year's is on the top.
A minisite for the yearly Polk-Key City Invitational High School Girls Basketball Classic, hosted by Hardin-Simmons Universtiy.
Our final project was developed over the course of several homework assignments. Requirements were to create a site that implemented a login system (using sessions and cookies) with a user database in PostgreSQL. All code was handwritten in HTML and CSS, and at different points throughout the project it made use of JavaScript validation libraries written in MooTools (fValidator) and Prototype/script.aculo.us (JSValidate).

Homework was to hand-write valid HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for a simple form with validation.
A minisite for Chapel; includes pages for information about upcoming speakers and alternative chapel events.
A minisite with information about off-campus housing. This minisite is where my application for applying for off-campus housing would be located.
This was the final project for my Web 1 class in my sophomore year of college. Project was to create a site for HSU's Neighborhood Enhancement Center in hand-written HTML and CSS.
This was my final project for my Webmastering class in high school. Programs used include Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and Microsoft Paint; methods used include framesets and javascript. Wasn't sure this was worth showing here, other than maybe just to show my roots.
